The Human Service Planning Alliance

The Planning Alliance is a consortium of public, private and non-profit sectors organized to conduct human services-related planning in Polk County. Planning is focused in the areas of Early Childhood Development, Youth, Health, Housing and Workforce Development.

The 30 member HSPA governance board is also the state designated Community Empowerment Board for Polk County. The Iowa Legislature describes "The purpose of a community empowerment area is to enable local citizens to lead collaborative efforts involving education, health, and human services programs on behalf of the children, families, and other citizens residing in the area" (Sec.5, Senate File 2406, p.5).
